On December 11, 2024, in Ashgabat, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sodiq Imomi participated in the High-Level International Conference on the theme “Joint Efforts to Strengthen International Peace and Sustainable Development”.

The event took place on the eve of the Day of Neutrality of Turkmenistan and was dedicated to the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution declaring 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust.

In his speech, S.Imomi emphasized Tajikistan’s support for Turkmenistan’s peace-loving initiatives that contribute to strengthening a culture of peace, dialogue and sustainable development.

Special attention in the speech of the Deputy Minister was paid to the current state and progressive development of Tajik-Turkmen relations, which, thanks to the decision of the heads of state, have been raised to the level of deep strategic partnership.

On September 27, 2024, on the margins of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin participated and addressed the Informal Meeting of Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

In his statement, Mr Sirojiddin Muhriddin, focusing on the capabilities of the ECO Member States, noted that Tajikistan is interested in the effective functioning of the Organization in building a reliable transport and communication system, simplifying business processes, efficiently utilizing labor and natural resources, creating a unified energy system, and providing favorable conditions for attracting investments within the framework of the Organization.

At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted the development of industrial sector Tajikistan, the potential of renewable energy, and the country’s leadership in addressing climate change issues. He also emphasized the need for joint efforts to tackle modern challenges, strengthen economic ties, and promote sustainable development in the ECO region.

On September 25, 2024, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr.Sirojiddin Muhriddin took part and made a speech in a High-Level Side Event “United by Water: Securing Our Collective Future Amidst Rising Seas and Melting Glaciers,” initiated by our country.

The event was attended by Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda Mr.Chet Green, Egypt Mr.Badr Abdelatty, Indonesia Ms.Retno Marsudi, Saint Lucia Mr. Alva Baptiste, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Ms.Berris Ekinci, Deputy Secretary-General of the UN Mr.Li Junhua, Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization Ms.Celeste Saulo, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development, Chair of UN-Water Mr.Alvaro Lario, Special Envoy to the French President for the One Water Summit Ms.Barbara Pompili and others.

Participants noted the importance of this event in highlighting the pressing issues of rapid glacier melting and rising sea levels, which pose substantial economic losses and impact millions of lives. The side-event was recognized as an important stage in preparation for the International Conference Dedicated to Glaciers’ Preservation, scheduled for May 2025 in Dushanbe.

Following the event, the participants reaffirmed the need for glaciers’ preservation measures, sea level rise adaptation strategies, enhanced climate data collection and processing ⁠technology transfer for climate monitoring and financial support for vulnerable countries by partner countries and international organizations.

On September 19, 2024, at the initiative of the diplomatic missions of Persian-speaking countries, including Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Iran, in cooperation with the diplomatic magazine “Society Magazine”, a cultural event of Persian-speaking countries entitled “Illuminating Legacies: Celebrating the Cultural Heritage of Persian-Speaking Countries” was held with the participation of representatives of governmental authorities of the Republic of Austria, diplomatic missions as well as international and regional organizations based in Vienna.

At the opening ceremony of the event, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Austria Idibek Kalandar, delivering a speech, welcomed the guests of the event and informed participants about the ancient history and culture of the Tajik people and the memorials included to the lists of tangible and intangible world heritage of UNESCO.

At the national exhibition, visitors were presented with 4 sites included in the UNESCO List of tangible Heritage and 3 national traditions included by Tajikistan in this organization List of Intangible Heritage.

During the event, the guests also had a chance to taste Tajik national cuisine, and enjoy the performance of musicians and a dancer with national music and dance.

It is worth noting that this event has been held in Vienna for the third year on the initiative of Persian-speaking countries.

The delegation of Tajikistan led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Farrukh Sharifzoda takes part in the International Conference on Nuclear Security (ICONS), organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on May 20-24, 2024 in Vienna.

During his speech, F. Sharifzoda informed participants about the situation of nuclear security in the country, measures undertaken by the Government of Republic of Tajikistan under the leadership of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Emomali Rahmon, as well as the level of international cooperation of the Republic of Tajikistan with development partners in this direction.

On May 18, 2024, the Cultural Expo in London dedicated to the International Day of Cultural Diversity was held.

On the sidelines of the EXPO, a fashion show was organized by the Embassy, where models presented Tajik national outfits and narrated on the rich history of the embroidery patterns’ emergence. Moreover, a Tajik artist presented traditional Tajik music, playing on dutor.

Also, on the sidelines of the EXPO, the Embassy decorated the national cultural corner, where national costumes, kundals (Tajik traditional decorative painting) and national musical instruments were exhibited, whilst information on the rich history and culture of Tajiks was presented to the audience.

On May 8, 2024, 35th Tehran International Book Fair was opened in the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran. At the Exhibition Hall, by the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Tehran and in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan was established Tajikistan’s pavilion. Books of the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon and many newly published books of Tajik scientists and writers are exhibited in the pavilion.

The Republic of Tajikistan’s pavilion has attracted the attention of Iranian book lovers.

This Exhibition will continue until May 18.

On May 4-5, 2024, the Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was held in Banjul, Republic of Gambia. First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Ismatullo Nasredin led the delegation of Tajikistan and made a speech at this event.

At the Islamic Summit, issues related to the present situation in the OIC countries, especially in Palestine, joint response to modern threats and challenges such as terrorism and extremism, as well as other pressing international issues were discussed.

As a result of the Summit, the Banjul Declaration was adopted.
