Consular consultations between Türkiye and Yemen headed by H.E. Yasin Ekrem Serim, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Türkiye, and H.E. Ambassador Awsan Abdullah Ahmed AL-Aud, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Republic of Yemen, will be held on January 19, 2023 in Ankara.

During the consultations, all aspects of bilateral consular relations and main issues concerning our citizens will be discussed.

We regret that the efforts to extend the truce declared in Yemen on April 2 were inconclusive this time.

We call on the parties in Yemen to show effort to reintroduce the truce, to constructively support the United Nations (UN)-led negotiations and find a peaceful solution to the question on the basis of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and established international parameters, through dialogue and within the framework of constitutional legitimacy.

Türkiye will continue to support the United Nations’ efforts for a solution in this framework.

We welcome the agreement reached between the Yemeni parties for another two month-long extension of the existing truce.

We hope the truce will be used to the direction of opening the roads across the country and ending the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

In the coming period we will continue our support to the efforts for dialogue between the Yemeni parties towards a permanent ceasefire and the resolution of the conflict on the basis of international and constitutional legitimacy, and our solidarity with the people of Yemen, as was the case up to this day.

We welcome the two month-long extension of the truce declared in Yemen on the occasion of the month of Ramadan upon the initiative of the United Nations (UN).

We consider the extension of the truce as a hopeful step towards a permanent ceasefire between the Yemeni parties and the resolution of the conflict within the framework of the UN Security Council resolutions and agreed international parameters, through dialogue and on the basis of constitutional legitimacy.

In this process, Türkiye will continue to support the efforts of the UN Special Envoy to promote dialogue, and solidarity with the people of Yemen.
